Toy cars – part II

Spent the whole day at Garage R today, just because of one EVC.
The user manual is in Japanese (??!!) and none of the mechanics knew Jap so tuning had to be done trial and error.
Having spent the entire day at the garage, I saw some familiar faces again like Gary the guy who drives Fair Lady, and this hippy uncle who drives the blue Skyline R34 twin turbo I saw last week.

I seem to have an increased fascination for toy cars and admiration for what big $$$ people spend to fix their rides, albeit it’s a very expensive hobby.
I know it sure does BIG things to the ego of the driver whenever one drives into the garage with all the noise and, like I keep joking with Shaz, making those “piang piang POOM” sounds from exhaust or “Psst” sounds from the blow off valve. LOL!!
That’s a sure head-turner and everyone is curious what is cooking under the bonnet.
Amidst the long wait, I get to take some more photos of the one-of-many Evos belonging to Garage R and…

Meddle with the Integra Type R! First time sitting in a car with only 1 seat, plastic windows and bars all over the interior of the car. And what’s that net on the window??

Toy cars

Am hogging the dawgs’ bandwidth tonight. Sorry dude & dudette, but you guys have more than enough tete-a-teting.
Went for car servicing today and wanted to install some parts at our favourite garage.

Compared to our humble Colt Ralliart R, it was overwhelming to see the number of Evos when we arrived. One would think it was an Evo outing.
Now you know Singaporeans do have the spare cash to splurge on their toy cars.
As always, I’m fascinated with Lee, my vaso-constriction handshake lady. She looked uber cool driving an Evo wagon due for servicing. I’m her secret fan! Maybe one day I could drive like her and join the Sepang tracks. 😛
Alright… maybe I wont. But I can always fantasize right?

And yes, I’m very impressed that we have the same guy assigned to our car everytime we make a trip down.

Toy car: Evolution 9

Toy car: Skyline GTR R34

Toy car: World’s 7th fastest Evo standing

Toy car: Nissan Fairlady

Modding monsters

Modding is an art in itself.

Went to collect our new car yesterday.
Want to know what car we bought? Click here !

Someone got tired of Automatic hence this car is *Gasp* Manual.
I had a hard time trying to learn how to drive a manual transmission car again and it’s obvious I need lessons again.

Luckily, Siew Lee from Garage R has been kind to offer me free driving lessons using her car.
So, our first driving date?? Next Sunday.
I must say I’m really proud to have bought our car from Garage R.
Lee is the vaso-constriction-handshake lady I mentioned before in my earlier post.
Her brother Lestor Wong is a racer who appeared in this month’s issue of Hot Stuff car mag.

She is by far the nicest and most sincere car dealer, or in fact any sales person, I’ve ever met.
She has no airs about her, and she took the pain and trouble to explain the littlest details to us, being first time car buyers (the ex-car was bought by Andy’s dad).

So happily, and rather awkwardly, Andy drove off the new wheels hehe and was very funny because he couldnt really get the hang of driving Manual again after so many years.
I think the other road users thought he was on crack!

And the lady owner’s duty?
To fix up a dog-friendly boot with poncho and car seat covers plus a short leash attached just in case the dog decides to jump from boot to windscreen.
